This time we would like to introduce “Kamenoi Hotel Kannonji” in Kagawa Prefecture.
What kind of trip is memorable for you? Enjoying activities?
This time, we would like to report on the hotel that is the perfect base for such a memorable trip.
Hotel Overview
The hotel is located in Kanonji City, Kagawa Prefecture
This hotel is located in Kanonji City, Kagawa Prefecture. It is one of the cities located on the west coast of Kagawa Prefecture, and although the city is different from Kagawa, it is home to one of Shikoku’s most famous scenic spots, Zenigata Sunae (Zenigata Sand Painting).
The hotel is located in a good location for touring Kagawa’s most popular spots, with places such as “Chibu-no Hama,” where the setting sun’s reflection and silhouettes transform the scenery into art.
Since it became very famous on SNS, it has been visited by many people, but Chachibu-hama Beach is a must-see spot that should be included in your Kagawa travel plans.
Access, etc.
- Address: 1101-4 Ikenojiri-cho, Kanonji-shi, Kagawa 768-0031
- Parking: Available
Although a little far from the sea, the location, built on a small hill in the plains all around, offers a panoramic view all the way to the sea.
Walking around the hotel
Arrival at the hotel. Whether it is because the hotel used to be a Kanpo Inn or not at all, the exterior and interior both have a luxurious or Showa-esque atmosphere overall.
The room looks like this.
The rooms are like this, this time Japanese style, but Western style rooms are also available. It has been 3 years since they entered the mysterious time called “Corona Disaster”, and while there are more and more Japanese-style inns nowadays that require you to bring your own futon, they seem to have adopted a kind of novel style where the futon is laid out from the time you enter the room.
Welcome sweets? Is that the right name? It’s a tea snack that is always served with your room when you enter. The crunchy texture and sweet wafers are very tasty.
The large bathroom that looks so nice
Now that we had some time before dinner, we went to the bath first. Since taking pictures is not allowed, I borrowed this image from the hotel’s website. There are two types of baths: “Kotone-no-yu” where you can enjoy the suikinkutsu while bathing in the hot spring, and “Madoka-no-yu” which is a cylindrical bath covered with bamboo. The photo shows only the Kotone-no-yu, but the Madoka-no-yu is also worth a visit, as it is not easily seen in other places.
Dinner is the highest class banquet cuisine “Honzen Ryori”.
Now, since we are staying overnight, expectations are suddenly high for dinner. I heard that the dinner served here is called “Honzen Ryori.
With high expectations, we await the arrival of the dishes. By the way, today’s menu looks like this.
This is the first course. This is the first course. The lineup of dishes seems to be lightly jabbing at us.
Next is the second course, which is also a luxurious version of kaiseki.
I didn’t know what kind of sake was available today, so I ordered three different kinds to compare.
The first dish was a small bowl of tamagami yuba (yuba bean curd). It is made from the delicate part of the yuba that has started to thin out, so you can enjoy its indescribable texture.
Sashimi assortment. It is not fancy, but the freshness goes without saying.
Soy milk hot pot. While a rich nabe is appealing, a dish like this, which is gentle on the stomach and tastes good, is just as good.
Grilled swordfish with sake-soy sauce. Not only the taste, but also the presentation of each dish is beautiful. The dishes are all beautifully presented.
Nankin Steamed Rice, the menu is gradually filling up my stomach.
This is the second course. There is no specific change, but I guess this is the end of the concept.
Tachi fish tempura. No discomfort from the bones, so there is no stress at all.
Rice with a wooden child. Of course, white rice is fine, but when you serve rice that has been cooked with a lot of time and effort, you are impressed by the spirit of the chef.
The last dessert was an autumnal dessert of persimmon and chestnuts.
Don’t overeat at the breakfast buffet!
As I age, I often think about my life expectancy and the number of meals I have left. And the day may never come when I can enjoy a buffet, as my gastrointestinal tract instantly gets sick if I eat a little too much, but that’s not the case with the breakfast buffet.
Many places stopped offering breakfast buffets for a while because of the Corona disaster, but recently they have been making a bit of a comeback, and I am happy to see it.
As is typical in Kagawa Prefecture, udon noodles are available for breakfast.
Here, too, a gorgeous dish of yudofu (tofu) is on standby.
Tororo(yam) and other items to make your white rice extravagant are also on the menu.
This is what you get when you enjoy breakfast to its fullest. I can say that I have no complaints about the taste or nutrition.
Conclusion
That’s all for this time.
If you want to see a beautiful scenery, or if you want to see a scenery that you cannot usually see, Zenigata Sunae and Chibu-no-hama are the perfect spots. Of course, this is not the only place you can visit, but it is a good location for touring such sightseeing spots on the west coast of Kagawa Prefecture.
The bath is good, the food is good, and the location is good. The price is also quite reasonable, so in many ways I was satisfied that I had hit the jackpot.
